Dear VMS Families,Since we are hearing that there is a strong possibility of icy cold weather in the near future, we thought this an appropriate time to remind everyone of how school closures/late starts are handled here at VMS. Please refer to the December 1 newsletter for the complete explanation as well, but here it is...At VMS we do not do "Late starts". If the Evergreen School District announces a late start, then VMS classes will open at 8:15am. There will be no "Before-Care" available.
If VMS needs to close early to ensure that students and employees can get home safely, then Kendra and Leslie will call parents to come pick their children up promptly. This is one reason why it is vital that we have a phone number where parents can be reached at all times.
If Evergreen School District announces a school closure due to bad weather, then VMS will do the same. Please take a moment to sign up for FlashAlert on Evergreen School District's website, www.egreen.wednet.edu It is the easiest, most up-to-the-minute way to recieve closure information from the district. You will be notified by e-mail or text message within minutes of the district's posting.
Along these lines, please make sure that your children have hats, gloves, and a warm coat for outdoor play time. In the past week, several times children have come to staff outside to say they are cold, but they have no winter wear in their cubbie basket. We have only a limited supply of extras.
